Avatars

A bolt of deer from a close cropped field
Beneath a harvesting sky
Red Admirals drying out quivering wings
On sun filled stones in the muddy track
One at least the emissary that wintered
In the welcoming warmth of your snow bound house
Another the one that danced to the music
You made with your fingers whilst searching for pearls

The river ever, the passionate river, rushing to meld with the sea

Blue moonlight and swallows
A surf dancing thoroughbred
The sound of the sea caressing the shore
With its salty tongues
Curling leaves, the sweet smell of jasmine
Sea anemone, orchids, a string of perfect pearls
Gleaming wet by firelight,
A family of otters by an iron bridge
A gazelle in the garden, the rose garden
Silver apples of the moon1
Purple butterflies stirring to flight
On wrapping paper and
Soft familiar cloth
Cherry blossom on a winter's day

The river ever, the passionate river, rushing to meld with the sea.
