Peter's Beach - Dancers In The Sand

At low tide two dancers
Traced on the sand
By a playful withdrawing sea

The lines left by lapping
The teasings of time for the moments before
The ocean's return

One muscled and sure
Strong in his stepping
The other slim sylphine
Bends to his tune

Their dancing is liquid
A welcome, return
Her movement to rhythms
Springing desire

As certain as the sea
Will erase with its tongues
This moment for memory is
As fleeting as spume

On Peter's beach the passer by sighs
Knowing her craft of gestures and light
Will be gently scrubbed out by a reclaiming tide
And fresh sand will sow the shape of goodbye
